CCEN Community Centre / Partenaires du Secteur Aylmer

Built together with CCEN day camp children, this stop is a collaboration between the Centre Communautaire Entre-Nous, the Aylmer Community House and Les Partenaires du Secteur Aylmer, a network of approximately 40 organizations serving the Aylmer sector. Day campers and community volunteers participated directly in the planting, turning the installation into a multi-generational and experiential educational experience. Enough plants were donated by Localeaf Nursery to ensure all the volunteers, community participants and especially the camp attendees were able to plant in one of the 3 zones designated for the first phase of the Butterflyway garden. Today, if you visit the Aylmer Community House, you will find the pollinator gardens spreading along the sides of both the front and side entries to the building.

Later in the season, and over winter, the Aylmer Community House also served as a seed-cleaning hub for the broader Aylmer Seed Project, in preparation for Aylmer’s first Seedy Saturday making this a central node in the community’s ecological network.
